JOIN: Wahi/Inwood Brunch & Supper Club
one of my favorite secret keepers has come up with yet another brilliant idea: a local Brunch & Supper Club. what better way to get to know the neighbors to your North & South, East & West, than over some yummy food and plenty of drink!
from the group invite:
A club to bring together the young professionals of our community; and foster growing relationships between the new and old residents of our historic neighborhood.
knowing how fabulous Claudio is, i am sure there will be lots of excellent restaurants on his venue list. hopefully some of them will be kid friendly. (hint! hint!)
join the WaHi/Inwood Brunch & Supper Club now.
want to get to know the host before the events roll around?

read Live Above Mediocrity, and
follow Claudio Cabrera on twitter.
we’ll be adding this one permanently to the sidebar.

Awww shitttt you got me blushing. Thanks alot Zaida. This was a very well put together post and yes they will be kid friendly. It will all be a group project where we pick some restaurants. I’m wondering if we should keep it to the Heights and Inwood as the club says or venture out. We’ll see.
Can you sign up for this group if you aren’t on Facebook? I’d love to join but am not a FB member…. Very exciting!!
I’d fuck with it. Can we mandate a limit to the number of times we go to Pipers Kilt + Indian Road Cafe, though? I understand they are the ‘Safety Zones’ for Inwood’s expatriate yuppie community, but I can only eat over-priced sandwiches and hot wings so many times…
Lol. Even if you don’t have facebook, I will email you and let you know all the updates on the club. My email is cecabrera@tmo.blackberry.net so feel free to get in contact with me.
I’m thinking of setting up a meetup.com group for this. Thanks Jessica for the interest.
Adam – Haha. Trust, I’m sick of these overpriced dumps in Inwood/Wahi too. I love my neighborhood, but I’m just being real too. It will be simple and fun and close knit. Nothing out of this world. Sometimes I feel like we can have an Inwood/Wahi group but take it to restaurants outside of the area. Too many restaurants round here are overpriced. But there should be some hidden gems.
I guess we’ll figure it out though. Feel free to contact me and thank you again for the interest. I appreciate it.
And thanks for the picture, Saidy. Damn, I didn’t realize CECabrera was such hottie. (I know you’re straight, Claudio, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be appreciative of a handsome face when I see one, right?)
A great idea, by the way. I tend to be shy/anti-social as my default mode, but whenever I’ve forced myself to attend something to meet the neighbors, I’ve always ended up being glad I did.

I think a great jumpoff might even be one of the less expensive spots like Nueva España on 207th — intimate, good food, Recession-friendly.
I’d bow to consensus, though. I never have time to really run around the neighborhood like I’d like to and try new spots. Mandatory Pizza Hero run on Dyckman, though. That has to be on someone’s list. Although, real talk — Grandpa’s over by Isham makes a REALLY good slice.
But yeah, I’m with it.
And RE: Facebook — I don’t fool with Facebook like that. You can always get me on Twitter, though (@abu718)
i really like meetup.com – J.Holtham has done an amazing job with The Upper Manhattan Experience meetup group. it started out as a handfull of people who hung out at pipers and now it’s 672 members deep! there are a lot of people who live uptown that want to stay local to socialize and network. check out the UME and i can connect you to J.Holtham if you have questions…

Derek your hilarious. I’m flattered. Don’t be shy man. It should be fun. Look forward to seeing you and I’ll keep your email on the list to update you.
Abu – Judging from your tweets, I can tell we’d have fun hanging out. Lol. I think that’s a good suggestion. I’m just trying to keep it affordable. I’m not trying to do all these wannabe fancy restaurants in the neighborhood. Nice cheap food and fun.
